Apply for Brand Use Authorization – Canadian Educational Institutions and NGOs

Safeguarding Canada’s hard-earned reputation as an international study destination is the collective responsibility of all stakeholders involved in the international education sector. For this reason, a framework for the “EduCanada” brand has been established that ensures that only Canadian educational institutions that provide assurance of high quality education, and the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that represent them, are eligible to use the Canadian international education brand.

Apply for Brand Authorization

In order to be authorized to use the brand,  Canadian brand eligible institutions and NGOs must comply with the following:

  1. Register ([email protected]). Following approval of your registration request, you will receive an email with a unique link that allows you to access the on-demand online training.
  2. View the online EduCanada brand training session.
  3. Answer a brief, mandatory survey at the end of the session

Following completion of the webinar and requisite survey, a representative from CMEC will email participants with a copy of the EduCanada sub-license agreement.

It is important to note that the entire process is completely free of charge.

If you have any questions, send an email to [email protected]

Eligibility Framework

The official owners of the “EduCanada” brand, the Government of Canada and provincial/territorial governments organized collectively within the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC), have established the EduCanada Brand-Use Eligibility and Authorization Policy. This document enumerates the eligibility framework for the “EduCanada” brand.

As education is a provincial/territorial responsibility in Canada, eligibility decisions for Canadian institutions are made by the provincial/territorial government where the institution is located. A different process, outlined in the Brand Use Eligibility Policy is used for determining the brand eligibility of NGOs.

What is the Difference between Brand Eligibility and Authorization?

Based on the terms of the Brand Use Eligibility Policy, provincial/territorial governments list which institutions are eligible for the brand. Brand eligible institutions may participate in branded international education events organized by Global Affairs Canada and its Embassies and Consulates.

Institutions that are brand eligible may also choose to become brand authorized. Authorized users are allowed to use the EduCanada brand logo in their marketing and communication material, in addition to participating in branded international education events organized by Global Affairs Canada and its Embassies and Consulates.
